Quick answer

To send a travel itinerary from Instagram comments, connect your Instagram Business or Creator account to DM Spark, create a post-comment Spark for ITINERARY, and send a message with a link button. Link to that destination’s itinerary rather than a generic list of your travel posts.

When to use this automation

A destination reel makes viewers want the route, not just the highlights. Give them a day-by-day itinerary with the places, travel times, and booking links needed to plan a similar trip.

  • TriggerA keyword comment on the selected Instagram post or reel.
  • KeywordITINERARY
  • DeliveryLink to that destination’s itinerary rather than a generic list of your travel posts.

How to set it up in DM Spark

  1. Prepare the destination

Build a destination-specific PDF or page with trip length, neighborhood order, transport notes, and a date for your last review. Distinguish your experience from current opening hours or availability, and link to official venue information where useful.

  2. Connect Instagram and create a Spark

Sign in to DM Spark on the web and connect your Instagram Business or Creator account through Instagram’s login. From the dashboard, choose Create Spark, select the correct connected account, and give it a name that identifies the resource and campaign.

  3. Choose the trigger and scope

Under When someone…, choose “comments on your posts”. Select only the post or reel promoting this resource. Leave Every post, including future posts off when other posts offer different resources.

  4. Add ITINERARY as the keyword

Add ITINERARY in the keywords field. Choose With keywords rather than Every comment so unrelated replies do not receive this offer. Use the same word in your public invitation and avoid overlapping active keyword Sparks.

  5. Write the DM and add the link button

Under Then, in their DMs, choose One message. Use this delivery text: “Here’s my three-day Lisbon itinerary. It includes the daily route and map links; check current opening times before your trip.” Add a link button labeled “Get Lisbon itinerary” and paste your destination URL. Link to that destination’s itinerary rather than a generic list of your travel posts. Check the message and button in the phone preview.

  6. Save, go live, and test

Save the Spark and check that it is Live; if it is a draft or paused, choose Go live and complete any post selection. Check the itinerary from a second account and open each map link on a phone. Verify the route is Lisbon and the sharing permissions work. Your own connected account’s comments do not trigger the Spark.

  7. Publish the invitation and check results

Add the example invitation below to your caption and on-screen text once the test works. Review messages sent, people reached, and link clicks on the Spark. Use the destination platform’s reports to check outcomes beyond link clicks.

Caption and DM copy you can use

Adapt these examples to the resource you actually offer. Replace the example destination with your own tested URL in the link-button field.

  • Caption invitationComment ITINERARY for my three-day Lisbon route, including the map and neighborhood stops.
  • Automatic DMHere’s my three-day Lisbon itinerary. It includes the daily route and map links; check current opening times before your trip.
  • Link button labelGet Lisbon itinerary

What to check before promoting it

Use separate Sparks for different destinations even if they all use ITINERARY on their own posts. A Lisbon reel should not start sending a Tokyo plan when your current trip changes. Keep the linked itinerary’s dated information under review.

Check the itinerary from a second account and open each map link on a phone. Verify the route is Lisbon and the sharing permissions work.

Choose a simple delivery or an optional sequence

This walkthrough uses One message to deliver the requested link directly. Ask, then send is also available on Free if you want an opening button before the link. Each outgoing DM counts toward your allowance.

On the Creator plan, a sequence can add email capture or an eligible reminder. For comment triggers, the person must tap or reply before another DM can be sent; clicking a website link alone does not count as that reply. Later messages must stay within Instagram’s allowed messaging window. See the Spark setup guide and email capture guide before adding those steps.

Questions

Can I sell a travel itinerary through Instagram DMs?

Yes. Send a checkout or product-page link instead of the paid file. Your store handles purchase and access.

Can the DM include a Google Maps list?

Yes. Add a publicly accessible map-list URL as a link button and test that a follower can open it.

Can I set this up on DM Spark Free?

Yes. This setup uses One message, available on Free with 500 messages per calendar month and one connected account. The Creator plan adds custom sequences and email capture, with 25,000 included messages per billing period.

Why did my test not send a DM?

Check that the Spark is Live, Instagram is connected, the keyword is saved, and you have messages remaining. Use a new comment on a selected post from a second account; your own connected account’s comments do not trigger it. Check the Spark’s status for a connection or delivery issue before repeating the test.
