How to set up Instagram DM FAQs for your business
Give customers a menu for prices, booking, and the questions you answer every day.

Quick answer
Create a Spark, choose an incoming DM keyword such as INFO, and select FAQ menu. Add question buttons, write their answers, and attach the right links. Customers choose the answer they need; you handle the questions that need a personal conversation. FAQ menus are available on the Creator plan.
Start with a question you already answer
You post your work. Someone asks what it costs. Someone else asks how to book. You are with a client, packing an order, or taking a break, so you reply later. A small FAQ menu gives people a place to find the basics while you get on with your day.
Look through recent messages and pick two or three recurring questions. Write the answers in your own voice and include a useful next step. A salon might start with prices, booking, and opening hours; a bakery might choose today's menu, ordering, and collection.
Set up the menu
Pick how people reach the menu
Create a Spark on the web and choose a trigger. For a reusable business menu, choose incoming DMs and add a keyword such as INFO. You can also start a FAQ from a post comment or story reply.
Choose FAQ menu
Select FAQ menu in the Spark editor. FAQ menus are part of the Creator plan. Write a short welcome, such as: Hey! What would you like to know?
Add the questions people ask most
Start with Pricing, Booking, and Hours. Each message has room for up to three buttons total, so keep the opening focused. You can add a submenu when a topic needs more choices.
Write an answer and add its next step
Use the same words you would send yourself. A pricing answer can include View prices; a booking answer can link to your booking page. Each answer gets a Back to menu button, leaving space for up to two other buttons.
Preview, go live, and test
Use the interactive conversation preview to check each question, answer, link, and Back button. Go live, then send INFO from a second Instagram account and test the real conversation.
An example you can adapt
This fictional salon menu shows how the questions and answers fit together. Replace the details and destinations with your own.
- Welcome: Hey! What would you like to know? Add Pricing, Booking, and Hours.
- Pricing: Haircuts start at $45. You can see the full price list here. Add View prices and Back to menu.
- Booking: You can see available appointments and choose a time here. Add Book a visit and Back to menu.
- Hours: We're open Tuesday to Saturday, 9 am to 6 pm. Closed Sunday and Monday. Keep Back to menu so the person can choose another question.
Once it is live, tell people how to open it: "DM INFO for prices, booking, and opening hours." If a single keyword and one answer would cover the whole topic, a keyword auto reply is a simpler option.
Leave room for the personal questions
A menu works well for fixed answers. A question about someone's particular situation needs your judgment. Other typed replies pause the automated FAQ conversation for attention; continue with the person in Instagram. There is no customer conversation inbox in DM Spark.
Keep the information current. When prices or hours change, update the answer and test the links again. Changes apply to new conversations; someone already in a menu keeps the saved version they started with.
Connect the next useful step
A booking answer can send people to your appointment page. A services answer can point to a detailed guide on your site. Keep the link label specific so the customer knows what will open.
If you want to collect contact details for a resource request, build a separate email-collection sequence. Each flow should have one clear job.
Questions
Does this answer any question someone types?
An FAQ menu sends answers you have written when someone chooses a question button or types its exact label. It is not an AI assistant. Other replies pause the automated conversation for attention so you can handle the question personally in Instagram.
Can I include a booking link?
Yes. Add a link button to your booking answer. The link opens your existing booking page; DM Spark does not book the appointment or verify that a booking was completed.
Can I collect an email inside the FAQ menu?
FAQ menus currently contain questions, answers, submenus, and links. Use a separate sequence for email collection; email gates, delays, and reminders cannot be mixed into a FAQ menu.
How many questions fit in the menu?
A FAQ can contain up to 10 menu and answer nodes total. Each message supports three buttons total, including question choices, Back, and links. An answer with Back can have two additional buttons.
Can I edit the FAQ on my phone?
Create and edit FAQ menus in the web editor, including in a mobile browser. The current iOS app opens FAQ definitions read-only.
